How the Himbas manage to blend so effortlessly in with the natural environment is spellbinding. The golden evening light shafts through the roof of their house as they communally prepare the evening meal. It is a widely held myth outside the community that local people believe a Muchimba man cannot build a house and that only his wife can build it for him. As well as the adobe other types of houses are built from a similar clay base topped with a thatched roof.
